This is actually our third version of the audio player. The first player hugged the bottom of the broswer, and the second sat in the header to the right.

And now….. and this is the best part. The video player.

Its pretty much the same as the audio player. We removed the “now playing” area. This new video player will be utilized this Friday at the Dead Fame Dance Party. We hope you have a chance to test it out with us.

Browser compatibility is as follows:

• Firefox – Works Perfect
• Safari – Works Perfect with minor spacing issues at the footer
• Chome – Works great. Popups in Chrome have a minimum width and we are under it by about 100 pixels so we have dead space on the sides
• IE 7+ Overal looks good but the chatbox have threading displacement.
• Opera not tested

So, that’s that. What’s that? How are we going to listen to the live shows? I’ll tell you how. I forgot to mention. The live chat is also moving. Lets just say the live player and the live chat are moving in together. Makes sense right? They work so well together. This is what we are getting.

Pretty slick right? From top to bottom. We gotta brand this thing ,so up top, we have the logo. We are using the two shades of burn orange present throughout our brand. Then we have the same player that we all know and love. It’s set to auto start so as soon as the page loads we hear the music. Below the player we have our song data. We added an additional line so we have more space for lengthy song titles. We can also include some stats if we choose.

Moving right along. It’s the chat box. The script we are using for the live chat is actually a shoutbox. Its main purpose is for viewers interested in stopping by a website to say what’s up. But we found that it works just the same if we use it as a chat box in this context.

And finally in the footer, just the basic copyright. Blah, blah, blah. But yah, Live chat and live player together at last. Makes sense.

So how are we to get to this player? Where’s the link? Here’s our plan. When ever we go live, 30 minutes before we are going to flick the switch to a special graphic that is unique for each DJs show. But don’t worry you will always find it in the same spot. Here we see the graphic for Thursday night’s The Joe Show.

Pretty cool huh? When you click on the “Listen Live” graphic a pop-up window will appear with the new player.

Another reason we think this is a better idea is that we want honest clicks. Beforehand when someone jumped on the site, it was hard to tell if they were listening or not. they could easily just hit the pause button and our stats would count that as a listeners, when they weren’t even listening. I say honest clicks because when someone clicks the “Listen Live” link, we feel they really want to listen all while the stats stay accurate. If they wanna stop listening, they can just close the player’s pop-up window. Easy.

Also don’t be to weirded out if you see a banner ad from time to time. We gotta pay the bills. We’ll make sure it’s relative to our mission. It’ll be all good that way

It’s truly amazing how fast a full year has raced by. I remember asking Joe, “Hey man, wanna start an online radio show?” I felt a little foolish knowing that it had been done so many times but with his overwhelming approval, it felt good to know I had a trusting partner in crime.

So let’s do a little math. In the last year we’ve had over 50 episodes. Lets say we each had a six-pack per episode. That’s 300 beers each!!!! 600 between Joe and I… We all know we don’t always stop at six. With all our good friends over for a two hour show… Together I’m guessing we killed well over 1,500 beers… if I had to guess. The only real word that I care about is the word “together.”

We did it together, so now is the time we celebrate together. On October 27 from 9pm-1am join us at Mugshot for our one year party. Joe and I will be putting together special DJ sets geared toward the celebration… with special guest DJs TBA… And in appreciation of your unyielding support, Kebabalicious(right across the street) is offering us a sweet deal… Buy a kebab half-off and drink free beer at Mugshots all night! In high school she was voted “most likely to have a gun rack in her pick-up.” I dare you to bet her to see who will last longer on the mechanical bull…. or a real bull! You’re sure to lose either way. She’s rowdy, unruly and off-the-chain… Who is she? She is Kirstin Owen.

Kristin is front woman for Do512…. and she is pure rawesomeness… If you don’t agree, she’ll likely tell you to “suck it”. She’s been with Do512 almost since the beginning, when she bought them a 6-pack in ‘08. While some at Do512 call her the “fun police”, she likes to think of herself more as Mama Bear, doing the things and stuff that keep the engine running.
